June 2007: Admission to the "Hospital For Special Surgery"

I assumed that the joint pains would be related to arthritis so I started to attend Hospital For Special Surgery in Manhattan, NY. It's one of the best hospital in the city for rheumatoid arthritis. The Dr. there started me on Lyrica. The doses given to me consisted of stages, ranging from 10mg to 200mg. None of the Lyrica doses gave me pain relief and although I repeatedly explained this to my doctor he would not stop the treatment until I finished all the different stages, which meant I had to stay in pain during his "experiment". It seems that all the doctors that are being assigned to me are so adamant about following procedure or protocol more so then being interested in getting to the root of what is wrong with me or hearing me, the paiteint explain that what they're doing isn't helping. It's a constant fight that I am in with these Dr. and I'm so tired and exhausted from it all.

Dr. Hammond was my Doctor at this facility and from day one I felt like he was against me. When I first came to him, I told him my story (what I've gone through pain wise). I told him to give me a drug test so we could get that out of the way (since everyone in pain is supposedly a drug addict) and was just very open to him about my situation. Regardless of my honesty and sincerity I was still rushed along as if my story and issues were insignificant, and I was treated like I was on drugs although I passed every drug test given...so now I'm here venting in order to help myself cope with this trying time in my life. I JUST NEED HELP!
